      FAQ'S

Information

I think I need therapy, does that mean I'm weak?

Not at all. Everyone can use a little help sometimes, reaching out for it requires courage. Life is sometimes difficult and if you are suffering, please contact us. We can help you build on your strengths and your coping skills to minimize the effects of life's ups and downs.

Why shouldn't I just talk to friends or family?

A professional Mental Health therapist can help you build skills and gain new perspectives to help you approach lifes situations in new healthy. In addition, therapy with a professional is completely confidential, you can speak freely with no judgement or risk of others knowing your innermost thoughts and fears. Lastly, professionals are completely neutral, there is no risk of others looking at or perceiving you differently.

How does this work? What should I do in sessions?

Everyone has different goals for counseling as well as different issues. Therapeutic strategies are tailored to the individual.

How do I know when I am done with therapy?

Your situation is unique to you and there are no standard timelines. Counseling takes time for you to establish and reach goals. The length of your treatment is determined by your commitment, your time available for sessions, and the depth of personal development you wish to achieve.

Should I just take medications? Can you prescribe medications??

Medication in some cases can be helpful; it is often used in conjunction with therapy. Medication alone cannot help to discover and explore the problems you are facing. Medicine alone may just mask underlying issues. Counselors cannot prescribe medications, MD's, DO's, some Nurse Practitioners and some psychologists can prescribe.
